Presenter, turned model, turned tech entrepreneur Alexa Chung talks style, selfies and insecurities in ELLE’s December issue.

In ELLE this month Alexa hands over the fashion reigns to her squad of stylish BFFs including Henry Holland, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe as they dress her in their dream looks to celebrate Alexa’s foray into the world of mobile apps.

Alexa discusses her fashion instinct, finding her own version of  sexy and the launch of her mobile shopping app Villoid. She also speaks candidly about her insecurities and admits that despite her fashion pedigree, she is far from high maintenance: ‘I’m terrible at looking in the mirror, I just get out of the shower and put moisturiser on and often don’t wear any makeup’.

She may have a reputation as one of fashion’s best dressed and most beautiful muses, but when asked about feeling sexy Alexa says: ‘I feel uncomfortable in anything tight or body-con. Anything sexy, I don’t feel myself in. I don’t know what the psychology behind that is. Maybe I’m constantly fighting for people to listen to what I have to say, so it seems undermining to look too girlie or frivolous.’

The frank and funny interview also covers being a parent: ‘I’m open to it and I would like a family one day’. Selfies: ‘I nearly posted a selfie yesterday from bed and I was thinking, ‘What’s wrong with me? I’m an adult.’ And her fashion hoarding habits: ‘My wardrobe is a floordrobe.  I can’t take it any more. I’m terrible at throwing things away. I don’t wear about 70% of my clothes.’

ELLE’s December issue also includes a world exclusive give-away: a Benefit They’re Real Tinted Eyelash Primer which won’t be in shops for another nine weeks and is the ultimate quick fix for long, lustrous lashes.
