Back in 2019, we all (yes, all) lost our collective minds when Glossier opened its London pop-up in Covent Garden. A floor-to-ceiling flower-clad ode to the city, complete with pink chimney-dotted rooftops and umbrellas, 13 Floral Street turned into a frenzy of Glossier fans, eager to capture a piece of the action with their eyes and Instagram feeds.
Then came the pandemic, and our hopes of a permanent store were dashed when Glossier announced they would be closing their real-life retail experiences indefinitely. Cue a year and a half of us eagerly stalking Glossier's Instagram page like an ex who doesn't want to admit the relationship is over.
Thankfully for us, it wasn't. The past few months have seen Glossier tease that they would be returning to London, but details were scarce. Would they be reopening the 13 Floral Street store? Would it be another pop-up? Now, we've finally got the confirmation we've been waiting for all year: Glossier is opening a permanent flagship store in London this December.
We're calling it now: this is going to be a bigger reunion than Bennifer 2.0.
After hearing that the brand's new residency would be situated in 43 King Street, the oldest building in Covent Garden, we knew that this was going to be one of their most lavish spaces yet, and we were not disappointed when ELLE got a sneak peak.
Step into the wide and airy townhouse and you'll be greeted with floor to ceiling marbled decor punctuated with well-lit mirrors and Glossier's signature artwork, and last but not least, a Glossier conveyer belt where you can collect your haul at the end.
This will be the third permanent retail space that Glossier is set to open this year, following their Seattle store opening in August - inspired by the natural urban landscape - and the LA space, which houses a 20-foot tall lip gloss, naturally.
What's more, you don't have to wait too long until you can set your own eyes on the glistening Glossier gates. The brand posted a teaser video on their Instagram showing the infamous logo carved out of a huge slab of pink marble, with the caption revealing that the store would be opening on Thursday 9th of December.
Just in time to squeeze in all your Christmas shopping needs. To paraphrase Oprah, you get a Glossier Lip Balm, you get a Glossier Lip Balm, everybody gets a Glossier Lip Balm.
As if the news needed to be any sweeter, Glossier added in their caption, 'The first 100 people there on opening day will get a special gift only available at our London location.' Run, don't walk people!
When it comes to the scope of products that will be available to shop, you can expect rows and rows of real life, tangible Glossier products for you to peruse, including their signature hoodies and bottles. Not only that, but you'll be able to swipe some London-exclusive merch in the form of a pink Glossier passport holder and a sticker inspired by the city.
We can confirm you'll also be able to have a whiff of the first-ever Glossier candle which are dotted around the store; The main dilemma you'll be facing is how to transport it all home.
If you want to make sure you're first in line on opening day, the London store's confirmed operating hours are 10AM-7PM Monday - Saturday and 11AM - 6PM Sunday.
