While you're right that the hair at Miu Miu is forties inspired, it isn't technically a victory roll. The term 'victory rolls' comes from a fighter-plane manoeuvre used during World War Two. After the soldiers returned victorious from the war effort, women adopted the hairstyle - with its signature V-shape – and the patriotic name to honour them.
At Miu Miu hairstylist Guido Palau prepped hair with Redken Wax Blast 10 High Impact Finishing Spray Wax, £12.54 (lookfantastic.com), to give it that slightly grungy and more modern finish. Hair was then divided into a centre part and hair combs were used to secure the hair and create height. This look nods to the 40s and 50s, is seriously easy to recreate at home and looks really effective. All you need is to add a pencil skirt and you've got the Miu Miu look.
If you want to try traditional victory rolls (with a modern twist), then look no further. I headed to Percy & Reed where hairstylist Adam Reed showed me, and now you, exactly how to get the hairstyle right. Click here for your full step-by-step guide...
