Funny you should ask this, because just this morning my hands were suffering from that awful dry feeling. Our Fashion Assistant Alice (who is a little obsessed with hand creams) and I both swear by L’Occitane Shea Butter hand cream, £17.50 (Debenhams.com), it comes in a small 30ml tube that is the perfect handbag size.
Alice is also a fan of Weleda Skin Food, £8.50 (boots.com), which can be used all over the body to replenish lacklustre skin – keep it by your bed so you can slap it on your hands and any other areas that need a boost. When it comes to multi-purpose you can’t beat Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, £25 (boots.com) for dry cuticles – it also works on lips and dry skin patches.
In the office our Fashion Features Director keeps a big bottle of Cowshed Cow Pat moisturising hand cream, £16, by her keyboard, which gets the thumbs up from me. Plus, the Cow Slip Soothing Hand Cream, £16 just won and ELLE Beauty Award, so you’re in good hands.
If your hands are really suffering try Mavala’s Cleansing Mask, £19.50. It encourages cell renewal (which will help avoid dry skin in future), heals the skin thanks to ceramide 2, while mallow, chamomile and Aloe Vera soothe. The mask comes with plastic gloves that encourage the ingredients to penetrate. Be warned, you’ll look a bit silly so maybe do it when you’re home alone.
