I only landed last night so I missed Givenchy, but it seems the whole of NYC was buzzing about it first thing this morning. That would be down to Pat McGraths ethereally beautiful work that is museum worthy.

The Food:

The only way to overcome jetlag is to base my day around the food. Dinner when I landed: Waverley Inn Chicken Pot Pie. Bob Dylan used to frequent this place, mnay celebrities followed in his footsteps so photography is not allowed. Clearly I'm not averse to breaking some rules:

Lunch between shows: In my room while I type this very diary. French Onion Soup (when in Rome, eat what the french eat and all that)

Grazing throughout the day on various backstage offerings. This can vary wildly from nothing to mac n cheese sandwiches to green juice and granola bars.

The Shows:

Herve Leger

HIGHLIGHT: Immediately adored the structured braid with wisps, created by Orlando Pita for TRESemme, and I'm confidently predicting a whole lot more where they came from.

Tibi

HIGHLIGHT: The Jin Soon negative space nails in all sorts of pastel colours. Also to the zen-vibe backstage, thanks to the Aveda spa influence. There was even time for a Stress Fix hand massage and no one shoved anyone out the way. (This is rare)

Altuzarra

HIGHLIGHT: Well, I was anticipating something fantastic but I only managed a passing shot of these three having an opportunistic cigarette outside. The list had been mixed up so I was, ahem, politely turned away. This is New York Fashion Week at its cut-throat best: If your name's not down, hell no you're not coming in.

Alexander Wang

HIGHLIGHT: Guido talking us through the hair look with such passion and intricacy, even though it amounted to 'emphasise what they naturally have'. In this case; spritz curls with water and go.' This we can manage.

What I wore:

I'm going to take one less decision out of the equation and let you dress me wherever possible. Check out @ELLEUK instagram or Facebook.com/SophieBeresiner to vote.

Today it was Kenzo skirt with Topshop blouse, flat Zara boots (essential) and Aspinal of London bag. Thank you, it was perfect for the humidity.

My Beauty:

No inspiration to draw upon yet (not sure I could pull off the Givenchy face lace), so I went for colour blocking. See below for key products
