There are few shows that inspire more awe than the Marc Jacobs one. Lining the fragile walls of the marquee that played host to the backstage area, we waited as Marc paced the gangways, leaving make-up master Francois Nars (pictured below) to work his magic.
"Make-up is to the face what handbags and shoes are to the body - it's an accessory," he said when he finally made an appearance before the hovering throng.
And so it seems our favourite cosmetic accessory for SS13 is destined to be Francois' vision of a cool, New York girl based on Edie Sedgwick yet made modern for 2013.
Against the backdrop of a pale skin created using NARS Sheer Glow Foundation and a new Radiant Creamy Concealer (available from February), he skipped blush and kept lips bare - "almost like they were disappearing completely".
In fact, this look was all in the eye of the beholder - literally. Adding structure to the face with a straight, boxy brow just like Edie's, Francois used the black shade from the Pandora Duo Eyeshadow palette to create a graphic accent on the crease of the eyelid, extending it beyond the outer corner. Resisting the temptation to add falsies, ("too sixties") - he completed his take on monochrome with a simple coat of mascara.
Coupled with Guido's tickled and teased, deeply side-parted low pony, created using Redken Powder Refresh dry shampoo and Redken Quicktease 15 backcombing finishing spray, the overall effect was cool, edgy - and the ultimate way to swing a sixties vibe the SS13 way.
