The end was nigh and boy, could you feel it backstage at . A school’s out vibe mixed with a palpable sense of exhaustion hung in the air as hair stylists drooped beneath the weight of their dryers, models wilted beside their mirrors and make up artists wearily laid out their brushes for one last time.

In fact, the only thing that was fully on form was the look Tom Pecheux perfected on the girls’ skin. Prepping it with MAC Face and Body Foundation, he powdered the T-zone then added a smidgen of Rodin’s Olio Lusso to cheeks using the heel of his hands for skin that looked “alive”.

A nude lip was paired with what has to be our favourite eye tip of Paris. Lining top and bottom lashes with MAC’s Fluidline Blacktrack gel, he left the inner and outer corners open – then joined them up with Smut deep brown eye shadow for a something that “was less aggressive and more eye-openingly sensual”.

In a season that has largely about subtle details rather than big statements, the Saab look excelled on that front too. Orlando Pita spent his final afternoon in Paris spray painting thin strips of metal gold, adding elastic and using his homemade hair accessories to bind low, side-swept ponytails that came a glassy-smooth finish.

Which only left Anatole Rainey to mix up a four-shade custom blend of MAC’s Anti Fashion, Quiet Time, Snob and St Germain lacquers to add a flash of “grey-y, pinky, purply, taupe-y nail that set off one of the key colours in the collection.

And with a barrette-like accessory, bruised nail shade and bold eye – that was a wrap on Paris and a final curtain call for our SS13 shows.
