Anne Hathaway looked radiant on the red carpet at the premiere of One Day last night and we know her secret.

She has described facialist Su-Man Hsu's facials as a 'life-changing experience' and with such praise from the pretty star I had to give it a try.

Su-Man mixes technology with traditional eastern methods. She starts by assessing my skin with one of those daunting skin analysis machines (you know, the ones that reveal skin age, hydration levels, sun damage and more) to exactly determine my skin type and its needs before I bed down.

The facial isn't the most relaxing experience, from firm shiatsu massage (each stroke performed 36 times in accordance with ancient Chinese beliefs and to seriously plump up dull, lifeless, skin like mine) to extractions performed deep-down with a needle, this isn't an airy, fairy experience - Su-Man gets results.

It also isn’t just skin deep, she asked if I'd had anything wrong with me lately - I had, a chest injury - so she aimed to release tension in that area with massage, before turning her attention to my scalp, neck, décolleté arms, hands and finally my feet. Su-Man's philosophy is that if your body's energy is balanced and you're in good health, your skin (with a little extra help from her) will look its glowing best. The facial itself is the usual mix of cleansing, toning, massage and mask, using products sourced from her native Taiwan (although she is working on her own product range).

I left Su-Man's treatment room - a calm oasis at the back of her garden - feeling deeply relaxed and flaunting plump, pillowy, clearer skin. If Su-Man's facial is anything to go by, I can't wait to get my hands on those products she's masterminding.
