Product: Mascara,  £20, by Belavada at Boots

The claim: The world’s first one-handed mascara applicator

The pros: This has a sliding applicator, which allows you to apply the mascara with one hand. Also, you don’t need to ‘pump’ the wand, meaning there’s less chance of bacteria and other nasties getting into the tube. The mascara itself is a good, deep black and coated my lashes evenly with no clumping, leaving them looking longer and thicker after one coat.

The cons: It’s bulky, just about fitting into my make-up bag. A slimline version would be far more practical. Also, the sliding applicator is quite stiff at first and takes some getting used to. Plus, and I’m being picky here, I still had to unscrew the cap, so I did technically use two hands.

The verdict: Good if you often apply your make-up on the go.
