I have noticed for a while that girls in California have been flaunting feather hair extensions. After months of trawling the internet and finding odd feathers on random US sites, they have officially landed in London thanks to Feather Ray. While they're brilliant for summer festivals, they also tick the Navajo trend box for autumn/winter.

Founder, Roisin popped in yesterday and attached my feathers in less than five minutes. I applied some more today and it's really easy to do.

Here's how:

Buy a feather kit from Feather Ray, there are lots of colour ways to choose from including natural, dip dye or rainbow. The kits, £15 each, include around seven feathers, silicone ring attachments and a thin wire circle.

Using the wire you thread the ring on to your hair near the root.

Group together two or three feathers, thread the feathers through the ring and using some pliers clamp the ring flat.

It is so simple, yet effective. If fiddly things aren't your bag, email featherray@featherray.com to book an appointment for a one-to-one fitting at the HQ in Shoreditch. ELLE loves.
