While nail art didn't have a huge presence on the catwalks at London fashion week, there was one nail shade that stole the show(s), blue.

It came in varying hues from royal blue to dark teal, and there was even a blue houndstooth check courtesy of nail guru Sophy Robson; she used custom-blended Leighton Denny polishes backstage at House of Holland.

Get the look using two varying shades of blue polish. The first, lighter blue shade, should be applied over the whole nail; then the second blue should be a darker Konad polish used with the Konad kit and plate M63 to give you the houndstooth effect. Konad.co.uk

At Holly Fulton session manicurist Michelle Class headed up a Mavala team who custom-blended a light teal shade for the show (pictured top). And over at Antonio Beradi, Jenny Longworth and the Revlon team painted nails using the new Fashionista nail enamel, £6.49 (available at Boots.com), a dark teal hue (pictured below).

Instead of teal, models were given a bright royal blue nail at Erdem by the NailGirls team using Blue #12 which is due out August (pictured below). You could try NailGirls #2 Vivid Mediterranean or you can achieve a similar look by using American Apparel Nail Lacquer in Neon Blue, £9. Americanapparel.co.uk

Not sure this trend works for spring? Well nail brand Nubar thinks it does and has just launched The Denim Collection including three blue shades - Dark Wash Jeans, Faded Denim and Boyfriend Jeans. £8.49 each or £20.25 for three at Beauty Shed.
