Val Garland and Duffy were given Film Noir and icons like Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Veronice Lake as references for the Marios Schwab show.

Duffy created a classic forties wave in the hair, but gave it a masculine feel by keeping the hair flat on top, with a deep side parting and by tucking the hair behind the ears. Hair was 'baked' with tongs, left to curl and brushed out. The hotter-than-hot heat gives that enviable shine; at home go gentle on your hair with Clairol Colour Seal Gloss Conditioner, a good heat protector and shine spray.

Over in make-up Val gave models a thick extended double line on and below the eyes to punctuate the retro feel.
