The words "sun", "kissed" and "glow" usually trip off the tongues of SS13 make up artists faster than you can say bronzer. But so often this season New York traded terracotta shades for a cleaner, simpler vibe that relied more on strategically-placed concealer and an all but invisible tint of cheek colour.
At both Victoria Beckham and DKNY, Diane Kendel and Charlotte Willer were early adopters of the "fresh and beautiful" trend. Their sparing use of Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer to even out the skin tone will surely make this a must-have product for the coming summer season.
Both Charlotte Tilbury and Dick Page took the "blank canvas to eye-popping colour approach". Dusting the centre of the face in a creamy shade of MAC Mineralize Foundation Loose Powder, Tilbury let neon pink eyes lead the look at Donna Karan, while Page choose vivid streaks of blue and green to provide the only real colour on the Michael Kors face (pictured below).
Meanwhile, James Kaliardos' "modern take on medieval" at Rodarte (pictured below) was more about the skin prep than the usual play on bronze. Drenching cheeks in moisture using NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate, he dotted the forthcoming Radiant CreamyConcealer (available from March) down the centre of the face, blending it outwards with his fingers for a radiant, flawless sheen.
Yes, Tom Pecheux's "virgin fairytales in the wood" at Badgley Mischka were treated to a sweep of MAC's Poised Powder Blush. But the colour was a healthy hint at colour - not a SS glow as we've known it in the past.
With the London kick-off only a day away, all that remains to be seen is whether the Brit pack will make a renewed case for SS13 bronzer.
