Rimmel, a brand synonymous with style, innovation and, of course, London is celebrating it’s 180th birthday. Yes. One Eighty

Established as a small perfumery on Albermarle Street in 1834 by Hyacinthe Mars Rimmel, the brand has stood the test of time and over the years has provided its worldwide fan base with an array of innovative, exciting new products and advertising campaigns.

Collaborating with Brit favourites Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger (shot here exclusively for ELLE), Rimmel is used to associating with model royalty, but did you know they were once the official perfumer to the Court of Her Majesty Queen Victoria? That lash-enhancing, non-toxic mascara you just used? You have Rimmel to thank for that too. Based on the Egyptian’s kohl and bodkin product, Rimmel created mascara with newly discovered ingredient, petroleum jelly, in 1861 an invention that we’re sure the entire female population is eternally grateful for.

Famed for creating some of the most innovative and essential beauty products, Rimmel has earned its place as one of the leading and most prestigious UK brands and, with another exciting Rita Ora collaboration in the pipeline, we can’t wait to see what the next 180 years holds!
