Yesterday, I finally got my hands (or should I say eyes?) on the new Clarisonic Opal. The nifty gadget uses sonic technology (vibrating 150 times per second) to knead eye creams and serums deep down into the skin. It's way more effective than the ring finger and just as delicate; the instant brightening effect and softening of fine lines is quite astonishing.

It has already caught on over the pond, with New Yorkers using the Opal as a work to bar beauty boost and Lady Gaga requesting two custom-made Opals in black for her and her mum.

But it's not just eyes that benefit, Dr Robb, co-founder of Clarisonic, revealed you can use it to soften cuticles with nail oil, apply lip creams and relieve stress headaches if you use it on the temples and forehead. Genius!

The Clarisonic Opal, £155 will be available at Space Nk from 1 September, while the limited edition black Opal will be in Harrods later this year.
