Earlier I asked our Facebook fans to let me know the beauty look they most want to try this weekend. A lilac lip was most popular and while it looks effective it can be tricky to get right.

There are three ways I would wear a lilac lip.

First, you could channel the SS12 Nanette Lepore show (pictured below) and wear an opaque lilac lip with a healthy dose of bronzer and a a light coat of black mascara. I love Illamasqua Cream Pigment, £17, in Depravity (a deep magenta) blended with a little Dab (a powdery lilac). Or try MAC's new Chenman Love and Water Lipstick in Budding Love, £13.50, it's the most perfect pale lavender shade. When it comes to the bronzer keep it matte, try Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzing Powder in Light Matte, £5.59 (superdrug.com).

Or look to the Richard Chai SS12 show (pictured below) and pair a punchier purple lip with soft tobacco-stained eyes. While Lindsay Wixon is fair, this look will work on most skintones. To get the look try Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violet Fatale, £36 (harrods.com), and pair with Becca Eye Colour Powder (Demi Matt) in Sable, £19.

Wary of a lilac lip and want to ease yourself in gently? Try Nars Larger than Life Lipgloss in Born This Way, £19 (Liberty), a semi sheer pastel pinky-lilac which will give you a similar look to the model's below...

Have a great weekend!
