JEAN PIERRE BRAGANZA

Jean Pierre is known for his gothic urban style, and so we were looking forward to some serious heavy metal makeup. Terry Barber, director of makeup artistry at MAC, created this look -

Terry wanted to create a look that was ‘a little bit gothy but still gorgeous, with lots of mascara Think beauty-goth rather than punky-goth’. Heavy metallic eyes and bare-effect skin with nude lips made for a gorgeous finish and it’s definitely one we can try at home.

He used MAC Eye Shadows in Metallic two metallic Seafoam and Madden which he artfully mixed together on top of a black base – sexy and urban.

The hair didn’t disappoint either – Toni & Guy’s Indira Schauwecker, who has worked with John Pierre for a few years now, pulled a triangle section at the crown of the head into an elaborate origami bun using Label M products. She told us that it was inspired by ‘a boho rock chick who has gone to live in Japan for a year’. Very specific but it totally works!

PPQ

The designer duo Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker behind the name PPQ were next up at the London shows.

This hair style really blew us away - enormous beehives, created with doughnuts and a whole lot of backcombing, made for one tall backstage area! GHD, who created the look, wanted it to fit to a 90’s power-dressing woman, with references to an 1989 Claudia Schiffer, which was exciting to look at and dynamic.

This style has to be our favourite so far, and we were very excited to spot the yellow and orange neon beehive of model of the moment Chloe Norgaard backstage as well.

The make-up was created by Stila and felt quite pared-down after the gothic smoky eyes at JPB! Just some black eyeliner on the lids, a matte lip, a power-brow inspired by supermodels from the 80’s and a subtle blush – the effect was so pretty we had to fight the urge to rush home and try it ourselves.

SASS & BIDE

This season Sass & Bide went urban and sporty, with edgy tom-boy make-up to fit. The look was created by MAC makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and was all brown eyeliner, no mascara and flushed ‘just ben running’ cheeks.

She used MAC’s sculpting cream to contour the face and doubled up as an eye shadow (take note ladies – definitely one for the makeup bag). No foundation was used, just concealer where it was needed, which made the models look so young and fresh we were sent running for our anti-ageing cream.

The hair was by Cloud Nine and was supposed to look like something you could pull off on your own. Don’t be fooled ladies, the hair stylists used around 3-4 different heated tongs and rollers on the hair before styling it to get the right beachy texture! Wavy hair was sprayed with salt spray and tied into a ponytail which was twisted around to create a loose bun and pinned in place.
