The week may have kicked off with ponies and grungy down 'dos but in the last couple of days, buns have been making headway.
After Neil Moodie created a low-lying, plaited bun with a Parisian feel at Margaret Howell using Bumble and Bumble Prep Spray, Peter Gray took up the middle ground at Paul Smith by positioning his bun right on the back of the head. Spraying Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray onto a soft bristled brush, he raked hair straight back off the face before twisting it into the bun. Pulling out strands from within the twist, this look was all about the dual texture of a slight wetness at the top and a dry, whispier finish on the ends.
Eugene Soulieman preferred something more aerodynamic at Mary Katranzou. With the Ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti at the forefront of his mind, he formed his bun from a back section of the hair. Split into three panels at the sides and centre, the front section was pulled back, wrapped over and fed into the bun to create a an elongated shape. Lashings of Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight and Dynamic Fix Finishing Spray later and this high shine, streamlined bun breezed out onto the catwalk.
And at Erdem today, Marc Trinder cooked up the Krispy Kreme of hairstyles with the 'glazed bun'. Clean, chic and a little bit boyish, he brushed hair back into a low pony, tonged the tail and wrapped it up into the bun. Coating a big blusher brush in the Charles Worthington Front Row Mirror Dazzle Shine Spray, he used it to smooth stray hairs for the final glazed finish.
