Day 3 at London Fashion Week and we're starting to spot some trends emerging. One that has shone out at most shows is glossy skin.

This was not a trend we were expecting. I expect to see dewy skin in summer, yes, but glossy skin at the Autumn/Winter shows? Definitely not. A lot of this glossy trending is down to Lucia Pica, MAC make-up artist and apparent shine addict, who admitted to us backstage at the show earlier today that she has been using balm and gloss with alarming abundance over the last few days.

The idea behind the look at Kinder was to get a dewy shine with a youthful and fresh skin base with just a hint of a blush – it is so fresh and healthy and we can hardly stand to be next to it for fear that our complexions look dull in comparison.

It isn’t just Lucia who has caught gloss fever though, from Sass & Bide to Paul Smith, from to Vaseline, balms and glosses have been applied to the eyes, nose, cheeks and even sometimes the whole face to achieve that glowing finish.

We discovered earlier today that the new MAC Eye Gloss in Mother of Pearl, which will be arriving to the UK in autumn, has been a staple in many of the make-up kits backstage this season.

At the Paul Smith show the make-up artists were dabbing it over the eyelids to give the appearance of a shiny/dewy eye with just a hint of mascara to finish the look. Whilst backstage at Richard Nicoll, Shannon Dowsett used Vaseline all over the lids to create a similar sporty, modern look.
