Another fashion week, another trend to trial. This monday I'm channelling the ethereal fluffy haired beauty of Bottega Veneta. The fulffy hair was accidental - monday morning BHD - but the deep wine lip, for the purposes of investigative journalism, meant to be. I'm already a convert.

After a good twenty minutes rifling through the ELLE Beauty Cupboard reserves I finally found something approaching the right deep shade. MAC has a new shade launching soon called Lush Life which is red enough to work, but slightly too satin finish for my liking, so I layered Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RS612 to deepen the shade. I thought I would look a bit full on for a monday afternoon, but something about the candyfloss-ish hair, the monochrome outfit (from the waist down I'm in black wet look jeans and white and black Nicholas Kirkwood boots) just lets the colour look sophisticated and entirely office-appropriate.

I consider myself an experimental lipstick lover, and this 1920's very dark look I've worn on a night out a few times. But the Bottega variety of deep red, rather than black-red is something of a revelation, and a new one to add to my every day repertoire.
