Day One, for me, is done. I headed to Eudon Choi and Markus Lupfer, while roving Fashion Week Reporter Bella Blissett is out at the shows as I type.
After New York where almost every hair look was very undone, in London both shows I went to focused on the ponytail.
At Eudon Choi hairstylist Shon created a ponytail inspired by the 1960s and 2001: A Space Odyssey - he imagined the models as "cabin crew on a spaceship". The top of the hair was dishevelled and slightly 1960s with a subtle nod to a beehive (without any of the laborious backcombing). Shon simply spritzed the hair with Bumble and bumble Thichening Spray, blow-dried and swept it over into a deep side parting which gave that shape reminiscent of the front of a beehive.
At the back he pulled the hair into a ponytail, secured and straightened. Then he used electrical tape in either black, white or silver to give the style a futuristic edge.
Moving from space to sea, over at Markus Lupfer Bleach London founder Alex Brownsell was also working a ponytail this time inspired by ethereal mermaids. Again the top of the hair was super textured, while the pony itself was drenched in Bumble and bumble Does It All hairspray and straightened to look like the fin of a fish. Alex then packed on glitter for a glistening, watery, finish.
Despite the difference in effort levels in each city - New York hair was effortless, while these ponytails were styled to within an inch of their strands - what the hairstyles do have in common is dual texture. In New York skeek hair flowed into dishevelled ends, while here textured tops were secured into sleek lengths.
