Being the final shade of the week it would be rude not to go all out. This dramatic look does just that. My romanticised gothic look is the creative handy work of Max Factor Make-up artist Mel Arter, who was luckily on hand to help me master this final, daring shade.
We saw plum colours that ooze a dominatrix vibe at Gucci and Bottega Veneta for autumn/winter. However, it's a shade that I haven't seen a lot of in practice and seems confined to the flawless faces of the high fashion world, until now. I wanted to try this shade to see if we mere mortals can steal a look straight from the catwalk. Luckily, I had Mel to show me how it's properly achieved.
Use these tips if you want to recreate the new trend romantic goth...
Firstly, choose your plum shade of liner and carefully define the lips. Secondly, fill the lip in using a lipstick brush. Next, blot the lip with a tissue for a matte finish and reapply - this will ensure the colour lasts longer.
This shade is not for the faint hearted and would definitely have scared the living daylights out of me at the beginning of the week. I thought day three was dark enough and now I stare at this deep purple shade and quiver. I am in no way, shape, or form cool enough to pull this off. Or am I?
Mel worked her magic and I was surprised at the result. I felt half fancy dress and half, well, really cool. The shade was a little difficult to manoeuvre throughout the day and I looked a little dishevelled after eating lunch but I definitely want to try this shade again at night. Although it is gothic it feels quite glamorous and sultry. I'm already planning my outfit for Saturday night but this time I'm planning around the lipstick and not the dress
