We're reporting from Port Eliot. We dragged ourselves early out of our tent this morning to make sure we had a prime viewing position at Neil Moodie's Bumble and bumble Up, Up and Away styling masterclass.
The key to a modern up do, according to Moodie, is not to style your hair as if you are going to a wedding.
First up: prep. Moodie says that texture is key to holding your style in place all day. If your hair is fine prep it before hand with either Bumble and bumble prep spray, or if your hair is chemically treated use Bumble and bumble Tonic. This will give your fine hair a rougher texture which will make it easier to style.
And so to Moodie's first look of the session: The Modern Roll.
Use a bristle brush (ELLE loves Mason Pearson Pocket Brush) to sweep and smooth your hair over to one side of your head. This will be where you create your roll.
Moodie has a great tip for how to use hair spray, "Mist your hairspray onto your bristle brush rather than directly onto your hair. This will mean you won't overload your hair with product and you'll only have it where you need it."
Divide your hair into two sections, one at the front and one towards the back.
Cut a hair donut so you have what Moodie calls a hair sausage. Place the sausage at the end of the back section of hair and use it to roll your hair up towards your scalp. Pin in place with bobby-pins.
Take the front section of hair and roll it back from the ends towards your scalp so that it meets the end of your first roll. Pin in place and with your fingertips blur the joint between the two rolls.
Set with Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode hairspray.
