It was more a tale of two moods than of two cities in NY yesterday. After Prabal's bright, playful look with its dual texture nails and trio of chalky bright lips, I headed backstage at Alexander Wang where Diane Kendal was using the grand total of four Nars products - gel moisturiser, brow gel, concealer and lip treatment for a look that was 'raw beauty'.

At Monique Lhullier Val Garland created a similar look to Charlotte's at Prabal Gurung with a bold red lip, matte skin with a little sheen on the cheekbones and nothing on the eyes. The MAC lip product used is so new no one could find the name but the shade is Cherry Glaze and it goes on like a gloss but wears down to a stain - want, need.

The hair was - surprise, surprise - dual texture. Moroccanoil gel (launching 2014) was used to slick back the hair but leaving it sleek and soft at the back.

Katie Hughes was creating juxtaposition with nude nails in Butter's Pink Ribbon and red toes in Pillar Box.

Over to upcoming designer Jonathan Simkhai where Tigi's Nick Irwin was also creating a sleek look -side parted and elegant but also super cool. Gucci Westman was using Revlon products to give the girls flushed, healthy skin and softly smoked eyes. 'I'm loving peach tones right now' she told me. And the look was not dissimilar from the one I saw at Ruffian first thing.

It's early days but a trends could be emerging here - dual textures and extremes in nails and hair; bold lips with barely there eyes and perfected skin. Contrasting the bold lip look? Misty, shaded eyes, bronzy skin and apricot lips.
