This morning began at the new W Hotel on Leicester Square for the Rimmel London trend talk. Rimmel make-up artist Kirstin Piggott and manicurist Adam Slee talked us through their SS12 trend predictions and shared a few practical tips. While we're keeping our trend round-up under wraps until our March 2012 issue, we thought we would share some insights from Kirstin and Adam.

According to both, spring/summer sees a move away from the Hollywood glamour we've seen on the catwalk for the last few seasons. Adam says, "The long oval nails of last season have been replaced with a short and square shape. And there's no matchy-matchy - lip colour and nails are in contrasting colours."

The nude nail that we saw everywhere backstage doesn't have to be boring, "treat nude nails either just with an oil, or paint on a skintone shade of polish or just simply apply a coat of a gloss or matte top-coat" says Adam. And apparently shimmery nails are back, "If Chanel are doing shimmer then you can bet everyone else will too". Try Rimmel Lycra Pro nail enamel in 285 White Orchid.

Kirstin favour's a healthy glowing skin for spring/summer. Try Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer - you can even go foundation free after an application of this product.

And lastly, that no-mascara look we have all be dreading - Kirstin points out that not everyone will be able to get away without wearing mascara so she suggests using a brown/black mascara like Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara in Brown Black just at the roots of the lashes and leaving the tips free.
