With so many exciting new brands bursting on to the beauty scene, we sometimes forget about the old favourites. Case in point: The Body Shop. There was rarely a Saturday afternoon during my teens when I couldn’t be found rummaging around their Kings Road shop, sticking my paws into the mango butter lip balm and slathering on coconut body butter from the tester pots.

I also loved the Banana shampoo and conditioner (£4 each), which smelled divine and softened my hair brilliantly. Happily The Body Shop are re-launching this and some of their other originals – Ice Blue Shampoo and Cucumber Cleansing Milk, anyone? - for a limited period, during which shoppers can vote for their favourite. The winner will then be re-introduced in to the range for good.

The Body Shop don’t just do the old classics so well. One of my favourite latest make-up discoveries comes from the Body Shop’s new Colourglide Lip Colour range, a lipstick called Neon Pink, which at £8 is a steal. The bright, blue-based pink is such a fabulous on-trend colour – models at Emanuel Ungaro and Antonio Berardi both sported similar shades – that it has made it in to my make-up bag for New York Fashion Week. Even better, the colour lasts ages and doesn’t dry lips one bit thanks to the sesame oil and organic beeswax.
