Oh the lip. Since I first laid eyes on you last September backstage at my first full fashion week experience you had me hooked. A super-cool pink lip that despite being a striking Barbie-magenta still managed to look edgy rather than overly girlie? Where do I sign up?
In the past Ive always steered clear of this shade in fear that when paired with my blonde hair Id look like an extra from a Nicki Minaj video. But this lip was different; firstly it was matte which from the get go gives the look a worn-in, cool feel rather than a glossy finish that would tell a whole different story. The no-mascara eyes added to this carefree feel, plus freshly washed, un-styled hair gave the look an aura of innocence kind of like when youre a kid and you reach for the brightest colour in the box to try. Despite my initial thought, I found this fluro-lip looked best on the models with super blonde but I was so taken with it that even my mousy-blonde hair couldnt deter me.
To create the lip I used Chanel Lip Definer in Fuschia, £17.50, and patted Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Rose Neon, £7.99, over the top. The lipstick had a bit of a balmy texture so it was a bit of a long process blotting it and mixing the lipstick and pencil together to get the texture I wanted.
Oh, and I cheated and wore mascara. Its the one thing that makes me look human in the morning so I couldnt resist. Im not as brave as our Beauty Director Sophie who went sans-mascara to her breakfast meeting for our #TrailATrend.
