I watched Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas last night and am absolutely hooked on the idea of making Christmas presents.

I love receiving them, too – my Secret Santa present this year was a gorgeous peppermint body scrub, made not in a plush laboratory, but in my friend Laura’s bathroom. It was so good that I begged her to divulge the recipe so I could share it with you…

To make your own peppermint body scrub, you will need:

2 handfuls of granulated sugar

Enough olive oil to ensure the sugar is moist

3-4 drops of peppermint oil

1 Preserving Jar (Lakeland sell six for £13.99)

Hessian or ribbon to decorate.

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together and spoon into the jar. Yep, it’s that easy! Plus, the scrub really works – my skin is soft and the peppermint smell really wakes me up during my morning shower.

This could be the perfect way to save money on presents this Christmas – if you have any recipes or ideas for beauty gifts, please share them with us all in the comment box below...
