I often have to go from breakfast meeting through to cocktail party, so my oversized Chanel make-up bag is bulging with things that repair a day-old face.

Essentials are Visine eye drops (which I stock up on in Duane Reade whenever I’m in the US), La Prairie Essence of Skin Caviar Eye Complex, £76.50, and my absolute favourite beauty product ever: Crème De La Mer’s The Eye Balm, £90, which is soothing even when I’ve been staring at a computer screen for 12 hours. I don’t like looking as though I’m wearing much on my skin, so Chantecaille’s Anti-Smog SPF 15 Tinted Moisturiser, Just Skin, £53.83, works perfectly. It’s super-sheer but it stays on all day, though I constantly touch up with Chanel’s Poudre Universalle  in Translucent, £27. This chic black compact is the only make-up I’ll ever pull out in public. Except, that is, for another two lovely Chanel things: the Hydrating Lip Treatment, £18, which is essentially just a posh lip balm, and Rouge Allure Lip Colour in Mythic, £21.50, the perfect nude lipstick. I rarely experiment with products – if I were to only use one make-up brand for the rest of my life, it would be Chanel and I’d be perfectly happy.
