Kate Moss’s favourite facial

You may recognise her as the dreamy, flowing-haired expert from the Max Factor makeover ad on TV. She’s also Kate Moss’s facialist, not to mention the most expensive therapist in town. For an eye-watering £345, Anastasia Achilleos will spend 90 minutes transforming your skin with her feather-light fingers, signature massage technique and determined use of the best products from around the world – or as Kate likes to put it: ‘She’ll totally sort you out.’

I had an Anastasia facial a couple of months ago and she definitely has that effortless, intuitive approach that makes a treatment feel blissful and means your skin gets exactly what it needs – lots and lots of massage in my case. Also, her product recommendations afterwards were spot on. She advised me to use Environ (one of her ‘chosen few’ ranges, which include niche Australian brand Kuush, Italian brand Dibi and Aromatherapy Associates) as a backbone to my skincare regime, and to dip in to other products, depending on my what my skin needed or what as a Beauty Director I needed to try. I found Environ ideal for my skin and now spend more time ‘reading’ my complexion and switching products in and out of my routine accordingly. It really works.

Anastasia has recently settled down at private member’s club Home House in London, where she heads up The Method Spa. With the staff list reading like a who’s who of the world of health and beauty, this newly-opened spa is a one-stop shop for the best treatments in town. You can workout with Personal Trainer in residence Jonathan Goodair who trains Madonna whenever she’s in the UK, have a consultation with leading nutritionist Katie Halliday or get your nails done by top talon talent Leighton Denny.

Then there’s Holly Gumble and Francesca Bettoni. Mindful that some  – OK, make that the vast majority of – women don’t have £345 to spend on a facial, Anastasia has spent the best part of a year training these two therapists to be (almost) as good as her, which means you can get all of that expertise from an easier-to-swallow £120.

But it’s not just the spa that’s great. Upstairs is the rest of Home House, one of my favourite haunts and the repository of many happy albeit slightly blurry memories.  Since she’s been going to see Anastasia there, Kate Moss has also become a fan of the club and recently recommended it to best friend James Brown for his birthday party.

So you can enjoy both, I’ve wangled it so that all readers of BND who book a treatment at The Method Spa can enjoy a free glass of champagne in the club afterwards. Just head upstairs to the House Bar and quote ‘ELLE Spa Promotion’ when you order.

Offer runs from 13th October 2009 to 10th November 2009; Call 020 7670 2073 to book.
