What is it about minis that makes everyone smile? I only have to see a miniature version of a product and I start cooing with excitement. Of course, they’re extremely useful too, and as it’s holiday season there’s a plethora of them around. Here’s my pick of the best:

Nail Lacquer in Black Orchid and Lenton Rose, £13 each by Le Metier de Beaute

These little bottles tick a few autumn/winter trend boxes (deep purple is black’s sophisticated sister, while shimmering oyster is a chic daytime option) but the size of them also makes perfect polish sense – how many times do you actually ever finish a bottle of varnish before it turns gloopy and too thick to use?

Mini color exciting pencils, £2.44 each, By Bourjois Mini

I couldn’t contain my glee when I first spotted these. The perfect size for stashing in your pocket or clutch bag for quick touch ups, the pigment is satisfyingly intense and the ultra soft nibs mean the colour glides on smoothly. Thanks to the equally mini price tag I’ll be stocking up on one in every colour (they come in eight shades) and will be first in line when they go on counter on 2 September.

Mini salon ceramic straightening irons, £15, by Babyliss

I think I might start straightening my hair just so I have a legitimate reason to own these adorable irons, especially when they’re such a steal. Brilliant for touching up wayward fringes and smoothing wonky ends, these are the perfect travelling companion and come armed with all the technology of regular Babyliss tools (worldwide voltage and a top temperature of 200 degrees).
