I’ve always been a fan of dramatic lashes and often use false lash strips when I want instant glam, but my real love is for lash extensions. Frustratingly, the hefty price-tag and lengthy application time means they’ve never been more than a one-off indulgence.

Step in Blink & Go, a new brand of lash extensions currently setting up in hundreds of salons and stores across the country. Its aim? To give you lash extensions in just twenty minutes, and for just £45. Considering most lash extensions take well over an hour and cost anywhere between £150 and £200, it’s a great little time-and-money saver.

I gave Blink & Go a try at Urban Retreat in Harrods, where I chose medium-length black lashes, with a few purple (very next season) ones interspersed between. For an extra £10 (and a further 10 minutes), I also had my lower lashes done.

As I lay down with eyes slightly open, the technician set to work layering and weaving individual lashes over my own eyelashes to create a ‘framework’ to which further lashes were then added. It’s this framework, apparently, that’s the key to saving so much treatment time, but when I asked for more details, I was told, ‘its top secret!’

Still, the proof is in the pudding and I left Blink & Go delighted with the result – dramatic and eye-opening for sure, but also natural-looking. More Bambi than Barbie.

I was told my extensions would last about two weeks, and eight days in, they’re still going strong – only around three have fallen out from each eye. (The bottom ones are a different story – I’ve lost about half, which I was told to expect; they’re just not as sturdy as the top ones.)

Bear in mind that unlike other eyelash extensions you can’t get these topped up. You have to get any remaining lashes removed and the whole lot done again. However, this is still a quick, affordable treatment with a good result, and ideal if you want to try out lash extensions without spending a fortune or need a quick, affordable beauty fix for a big night out.
