Though I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this latest ones.

‘IT DOESN’T MATTER WHETHER YOU’RE BLONDE, BRUNETTE OR BLONDETTE…’

New research has found that on one dating website, brunette profiles get nearly 50 per cent more hits than blonde ones. But while it’s great to think I might be more desirable than my blonde counterparts, the website in question is in fact IllicitEncouters.co.uk, an extra-marital ‘friendship’ site whose aim is to allow married people to hook up with other married people in a ‘safe and non-judgmental environment’ and, which has already caused heated debates in the ELLE office (a website that actively encourages people to jeapordise a legal institution? Shouldn’t that be illegal?). All of which means it’s actually cheating gentlemen that prefer brunettes.

The reason, according to a spokesperson for the site, is that brunettes are traditionally perceived as more intelligent and serious, and men who use the site aren’t after a frivolous affair but rather someone with whom they can ‘hold a decent conversation’ and enjoy ‘ a great deal of communication and understanding.’

Like I said, all very flattering for brunettes, but what to make of it, exactly? Should all blondes undergoing marital difficulties take this as a cue to indulge the latest hair trend and consider meeting their problems half way by going ‘blondette’? Or should we just remember that while, realistically, hair colour probably counts not one jot in a relationship, the ability to communicate definitely does?
