Looking every inch the Hollywood starlet in top-to-toe in Dolce & Gabbana – including make-up – Scarlett Johansson stepped out to hoards of camera-waving fans in Selfridges Beauty Hall this afternoon, where she made a very brief appearance to promote Dolce & Gabbana The Make-up.

Thanking the crowd for coming, Scarlett exclaimed she’d never seen so many personal cameras in all her life and that she was ‘overwhelmed’ – not that I believed it for a second after all those Red Carpet appearances.

True to her contract, Scarlett explained why she loves the glamorous new range from Dolce & Gabbana – their first foray into make-up – which hit Selfridges in April.  ‘[I love] the modern yet classic make-up and the fabulous packing,’ she said. When urged to tell the crowd a bit more about the line, she simply replied, ‘you’ll have to ask Pat McGrath to tell you more!’ Renowned make-up artist Pat is the creative brains behind the line, while Scarlett is merely the – very beautiful – face.

Just as I was getting the feeling that Scarlett perhaps didn’t want to be there, she shared her beauty make-up mantra with us – ‘I always pay homage to old Hollywood’ - before she was whisked off by bodyguards to an eruption of cheers and clapping.
