It's usually right about now, when the days are longer and warmer, that I notice a real shift in my skin and have to change my beauty routine accordingly.
Firstly, my normally drama-free skin begins to erupt and the blanket of rich cream I smother it in all winter needs to be swapped for a lighter lotion which delivers enough moisture but feels cooler and fresher. This is when Chanel's HydraMax + Gel-cream, £41, comes in handy. It sinks in immediately and has an instant plumping effect.
Once my skin condition is in check, the full coverage foundation that I normally need to cover broken veins and even out a sallow wintry complexion goes into store. Instead, I break out the tinted moisturiser and cut it with just a little Mac Strobe Cream, £20.06.
It gives me the dewy look I crave in summer, but with just enough colour to even everything out. Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser, £32 is my personal favourite, but I also adore Chantecaille's Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser, £52, it melts in and has a seamless finish.
When my signature smoky eyes feel a little too 'done' for easy summer evenings I go for softer washes of brown smudged in with a little gloss on the lids. Although Vaseline works well I love the sheeny purple veil that mixing Baume de Rose by By Terry, £30.34 with a little bronze eye shadow gives me. The more worn in it gets, the sexier it looks - perfect for taking you from a day in the office to a night out in an instant.
And it's not just my make-up routine that gets the once-over either. Although I adore smoky, spicy scents in winter, they feel too overpowering and heady for summer so I switch to lighter florals instead. Stella Nude, £29.50, by Stella McCartney is a soft blend of Moroccan rose and peony and leaves a delicate veil of fragrance on skin.
