Today, ELLE’s beauty assistant Georgia Collins celebrates 20 years of a cult compact.

‘Dior’s 5 Couleurs eye shadow palettes have long been a staple in make-up artists’ kits, thanks to their intense pigments and brilliant blendability, and I’m always spotting them backstage at the shows.

This year is the 20th anniversary of these cult compacts and to mark the occasion, Dior’s Creative Director for Make-up Tyen has created four new “Designer” versions (£37 each). They launch this time next week.

Based on professional make-up artists’ palettes and using with ultra fine textures, the new editions are based on an all-in-one layering system and contain a liner, base, pure colour shadow, darker shadow and highlighting shade. All are densely pigmented but slide on to skin like silk, meaning they’re a dream to use and last well.

Normally gems like these are in short supply, so right about now I’d be urging you to run out and get your hands on one as quick as you can, but these new versions are booked in for the long-haul (another 20 years maybe?), so you can build up your collection without breaking a sweat.’
