Or if she just thought it was really pretty…

Now that super-tanned is no longer the coveted shade - the value of bronze has taken a nose dive along with the economy. The new summer face is lightly gilded with plenty of pretty pink on the cheeks to give definition and glow.

Start by choosing a paler bronzing powder than you would have chosen last year, without too much shimmer. Then to get a multi-dimensional, naturally sunny look, dust the bronzer around the perimeter of your face (forehead, temples, chin, jawline) and down your nose, leaving the centre of your complexion slightly lighter.

Choose a powder blush (to avoid mixing textures) that matches the way you flush naturally - in my case, it's a almost stained berry pink and Molly suits this very natural, peachy-pink - and apply it to the outside part of your apples. Follow with one final sweep all over the apples and out towards your temples. The right shade - and application - means you can afford to go for a real pop of colour.

Keep the whole thing looking fresh and youthful with a dewy base, a little highlighter, gentle definition on your eyes and softly shimmering lips.
