He pays the mortgage and is always helping me out of financial scrapes so luxury moisturisers is one thing I could do for him. Luckily, he loves (home-grown) facials, pedicures and ‘naked body rub-downs’ (his word for exfoliation) as much as the next girl, so this Valentine’s day he’ll be unwrapping the following:

Granite O Chocolat, £49.95 by Sensation Chocolat

This creamy body scrub contains real cocoa, which means that while it makes skin smell good enough to eat, it also leaves it soft and nourished, thanks to high levels of natural vitamins and antioxidants. I don’t normally like beauty products that smell of food, but I’ll make an exception for this one as it’s not sickly and it is Valentine’s Day.

Anti-ageing Treatment Day Cream, £100 by M Lab at Harrods

My boyfriend’s always complaining that nothing’s powerful enough to get rid of the dry patches on his skin (except the Vaseline), but I’m sure this rich, active ingredient-packed moisturiser will convert him.

Lip Fuel, £11 by Kyoku

He’s always borrowing my lip balm - tomorrow I’ll be able to borrow his. This is a great, juicy formulation that makes lips tingle.

Exfoliating Facial Scrub, £19 by Kyoku

I’m as excited about this new scrub as my male colleagues, who loved it. It contains lots of natural ingredients, including walnuts and goats milk, it’s creamy, the granules aren’t too coarse and the smell isn’t too ‘for men’.

Massage Oil Candle, £48.80 by Yonka

This is a bedroom toy with a very sophisticated edge. Instead of wax, the candle is made of plant butters and essential oils, which when they melt can be poured on to skin and used for massage. The warm, slippery oil and the subtle, sensual smell as the candle burns away is all very sexy indeed. I should be able to give my rhinestone-encrusted push-up bra a rest this year.
