With the Christmas party season in full swing, it’s time to perfect your desk-to-drinks beauty regime. We asked TIGI Bedhead Ambassador Philip Downing for some tips on how to turn hair that’s been battered by the elements (and office air con) all day into a party-worthy crowning glory.

Whether you have the afternoon off to preen and pamper or a quick five minutes in an over crowded office bathroom, here are Philip’s top four desk to party ‘dos.

All the time in the world… Va Va Volume

For maximum volume, start with a product that will lift the roots and give the appearance of thicker hair. Our absolute favourite is Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day. Spray it liberally into towel-dried hair and then turn your head upside down and blast with a drier. This will ensure you get root volume. Then blow-dry your hair with a large round brush, starting at the roots and rolling each section up tightly. Apply heat from the drier and then leave to cool before removing the brush. An easy way to create great volume is with Bed Head Oh Bee Hive dry shampoo. Layer into dry hair and blow-dry with a large round brush or for a looser look, just blast with the drier.

15 minutes to spare… Wave of Wonder

Brush hair forwards from the crown, and using a Hot Stick take random sections and roll up the hair horizontally around the head. Leave to cool and then brush your hair backwards. Spray with Catwalk by TIGI Work It Hairspray to keep the style in place.

Time is of the essence…The Ultimate Fishtail

Blow-dry the hair smooth with a paddle brush and work a small amount of Catwalk by TIGI Sleek Mystique Blow Out Balm into hair. On mid length hair start the fishtail at the crown; if you have long hair begin at the occipital bone (just above the nape). Take a section in the middle and divide it into two, crossing one side over the other. Then take another section each side, and cross over, joining the right section to the left and the left to the right. Continue with all the remaining hair and secure with a band. With a bit of practice this is the easiest of braids.

Taxi beeping outside…Top Knot Chic

Create a high ponytail. Twist the 'tail' to the ends, then twist back on itself and fold into a knot and secure with pins.

We also quizzed Philip on the best way to look after coloured hair during the hectic party season. Here’s what he had to say…
