Pink eye just got cool. No, I don't mean conjunctivitis is the hot new ailment. I haven't completely lost the plot. No, Wendy Rowe gave models pink eyes backstage at Burberry this morning. The look had a velvet finish and as meant to be 'cool and modern' this translated to a lack of liner and mascara. 'Liner and mascara feels too old fashioned with this eyeshadow', Rowe told me. 'It's Burberry, it needs to be cool'.

Rowe used a new quad launching in Spring 2014, so to recreate the look today I plundered the beauty cupboard choosing KIKO High Pigmented Eyeshadow in Inifinity and Lola Colorete 005 to recreate the look.

I applied KIKO all over my eyelids up to the socket line and blended under the waterline. A little of the brighter Lola shadow on the centre of the eyelids pepped up the look.

I'm in love with it; it was easy to apply and easy to wear. While a true pink is tricky to pull off around the eye (it can make you look hungover) going for terracotta-pink hues keeps it more akin to a soft brown smoky eye with a hint of flattering warmth. Beauty Director Sophie said it was 'pretty intense' but she liked it. It certainly makes my blue eyes look even more blue.

While I spied this backstage at a spring/summer show, I don't think this is a particularly season-specific look, I'd wear it now with my winter florals and come spring with a lightweight beige Burberry trench (if I owned one, that is...).
