It comes as no surprise that Spring/summer brings with it a tide of pastel and bold lips, they're the easiest way to make the transition from moody winter darks to fresh and playful spring makeup. But even so, when I spied this powerful magenta lip backstage at J.Js Lee I was head over heels; maybe the miserable London weather is getting to my head but this just brightened up my day.

MAC make-up artist, Lucy Burt chose this vibrant shade because it complements the colours in the collection and suits all skin tones. She got the punchy colour by drawing on the full lip with MAC possessed Magenta Lip Pencil then patting a blend of MAC Pro Lip Mix in White and Fuschia over the top.

A bold eye would have been 'too much', Lucy told me, so instead she gave the girls dewy, almost opalescent skin using three MAC highlighters in Luna, Pearl and Hush. A flick of white eyeliner in the lower water line and brushed up sporty brows sealed the deal. Fresh, gorgeous and playful = EBT seal of approval.

And the nails! Butter London Hen Party gave nails a pearlised finish with three coats. Butter's Katie Hughes also gave a great tip on shaping 'copy your cuticle shape on your tip - it's the most flattering shape for your nail'. We will.
