Deep pink eyeshadow has always been err-ing on the side of beauty faux pas. It conjures up visions of conjunctivitis, hayfever and hangovers. But then Burberry did it for spring/summer 2014. Wendy Rowe managed to make pink eye cool and covetable. But would it work off catwalk without a set of Cara-esque brows to frame the look and give definition? There was only one way to find out: #TrialATrend.

I used a Real Techniques eyeshadow brush (part of the Limited Edition Duo Fibre Set, £23.99 (at Boots) to blend twoKiko Infinity eyeshadows, £5.90, in 231 an amaranth pink all over the eyelid and blended up, then 233 a plum hue into the socket line to add depth. I really blended out the eye to create a soft, diffused effect. A little black mascara was needed to add definition.

Okay it’s not an everyday eye, but I’m quite taken with it – the colour makes blue and green eyes pop. And one of my colleagues remarked at how subtle it was, in fact my friends didn't even notice when I met them for dinner. Still, I’ll probably save it for summer nights and festivals. What do you think?
