Estee Lauder buys Le Labo, Frederic Malle and Rodin

Beauty Giants go Niche

With the news that Estée Lauder Companies have added fragrance brand Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle to their repertoire, it seems the beauty conglomorate is set to take over the world of niche fragrance. Already prolific with favourite brands including Tom Ford, Aerin Lauder, Aramis and Designer Fragrances such as DKNY, Michael Kors and Tommy Hillfiger, the addition of french company Malle follows news last week that Le Labo and Rodin Olio Lusso skincare are also set to join the company.

Frédéric Malle said "The Estée Lauder Company has great respect for the art of perfumery and for the creativity, dedication and mastery required to create truly exceptional fragrance experiences."

Bespoke niche brand Le Labo is an insider favourite with Alexa Chung and our own Beauty Director Sophie Beresiner among it's fans. It is currently exclusive to Liberty London, with a made-to-order service.

Quite a diversion for the global prestige beauty portfolio Lauder already has. It's a clever move to appeal to the more unique and diverse tastes of the digital generation, and a boost to nurture the big the brands of the future. Watch this space.
