With some members of Team ELLE over on the White Isle for #ELLEIBIZA2013 (you can find out more and download the ELLE Ibiza app for 69p here), I'm reminiscing over my recent trip to the island. With summer almost here I realised I needed to take my approach to fitness to a whole new level. So I headed to Ibiza to immerse myself in to the world of healthy living for a weekend. Odd choice, some may think since it’s the no 1 party island but I was there to detox, get fit and recharge.

I headed to Ibiza with the team from bareMinerals by Easyjet and en route picked up a BareMinerals Get Started Kit created exclusively for Easyjet. The kit is available in flight for £39. It contains One bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige, Warmth All Over Face Color, Original Mineral Veil Finishing Powder, Prime Time Foundation Primer, Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush and Full Flawless Application Face Brush – all you need for a flawless complexion. Apparently the minerals are so good for your skin you can sleep in them and since we arrived super late to the hotel that was exactly what I did.

Saturday morning we awoke early and met with the co-founders of 38?North – Kelly and James who would be providing the exercise and diet part of our trip. 38?North is based at the 5 star Aguas de Ibiza hotel in Santa Eulalia, a small port on the island. After a healthy breakfast of scrambled egg and smoked salmon we headed to Es Vedra – a rocky island that is the third most magnetic spot in the world. Apparently the magnetic fields are meant to make you feel super energetic and since we were hiking along a pretty hairy cliff edge, I certainly needed the energy boost.

The food at 38?North consists of juices made by James and, if you’re not on a juice detox for your time there, a special fitness menu that was healthy but nutrient-rich. Think gazpacho shots and seared tuna with avocado. If only all my lunches were that good.

Sunday I headed out with Kelly for a run along the coast with her Pomeranian Otto.

Next up was beach circuits with Faye Maloney, who is a kickboxing gold medallist. We were definitely put through our paces with more hill sprints than I can count.

A session of yoga on the hotel roof was a restful way to end the trip.

While I was there to focus on fitness, 38?North is the ideal place for anyone to recover after partying on the White Isle this summer.

Book in for a couple of days post-party before heading back here.

Things I learnt in Ibiza:

Exercising isn’t so bad if you can distract yourself with a good view, or a four-legged running partner.

Add sprints to your usual jog, they will help boost your heart rate and thus your calorie burn.

Try exercises that don’t feel like exercise – a long walk (read: hike) in the hills is fun but it’s great exercise too.

Juices are good for you, but try to opt for ones that have more veg and fewer fruits.

Too much sugar, even fructose (fruit sugar), is bad for you.

If you exercise in the heat (not a great chance of that in this country) and you’re drinking lots of water, replenish your mineral levels with a magnesium supplement.

Bare Minerals now does everything including fake tan, serums and exfoliating pads…
