The weather in Cannes last night was horrid - wind billowing unrelenting rain onto the red carpet. Any sane person would have retreated to a hotel bar - but unfortunately for me, I was waiting on the edge of the harbour for a host of A-list arrivals at the IFP and Calvin Klein Collection and Euphoria Calvin Klein Women in Film party. Carey Mulligan looked chic, dressed all in black with her blonde hair slicked back in a twisted up 'do. In fact, all of the the stars arrived in simple pared-back makeup and sleek hair an homage to the classic Calvin Klein look.
Skyfall star Naomie Harris took time out to speak with everyone, despite being lashed by the torrential rain, Nicole Kidman bypassed most of the waiting journalists, and Rooney Mara, the face of Calvin Klein's new fragrance Downtown, was super shy.
Sky fall star Naomie Harris took time to speak with everyone, despite being lashed by the torrential rain. She told ELLE how the most inspirational woman she has played in Winnie Mandela in her upcoming biopic The Long Walk to Freedom, for which she had to spend up to five hours in the make-up chair having prosthetics to make her appear older.
Nicole Kidman bypassed most of the waiting journalists, and Rooney Mara, the face of Calvin Klein's new fragrance Downtown, was super shy.
Inside the party waiters were offering copious amounts of mini fish and chips, bowls of risotto and champagne. Nicole Kidman hung out in the middle of the room chatting with Harvey Weinstein, while Harris circulated and Mara stayed by the bar.
Later in the evening Cara Delevingne arrived in a sparkling black suit. I got chatting to her about her new tattoo, a lion on her finger: 'I'm hooked, I want them everywhere' she said stroking her arms and even her neck. 'I went to Rihanna's tattooist Bang Bang in New York, if you ever have a tattoo, go to him!' she told me. Perhaps inspired by the festival (it's hard not to be), Cara then dropped in to conversation 'I definitely want to give acting a go'. Watch this space...
After that, I actually hung out with Cara, dancing to the dj set by Bip Ling. Then the model of the moment asked if she could have a sip of my champagne. How could I say no? I handed her my glass (see pic below) and off she went into the night, flute in hand. And I headed to the bar for another.
