EXCLUSIVE: Katy Perry talks Killer Queen fragrance

Plus, win customised bottle

It may come as little surprise considering ELLE cover star Katy Perry’s new perfume is called Killer Queen, but Perry told ELLE that if anyone dead or alive could front her new scent it ‘would have to be Freddie Mercury because it’s his song, Killer Queen, that is the pure inspiration for this’.

It's not just the late singer who inspires her, Perry is also inspired by strong women like Princess Diana, ‘she was amazing’ she told ELLE. ‘I love Angelina Jolie. Big time’ she added. ‘There is something really mysterious about her that, like, we don’t know everything that we want to know about Angelina and that is okay, you know.

'I think there is something always to be discovered about that woman, she has got such an incredible mystique and she’s so, so strong.’

Housed in a red and gold jewel-shaped bottle and inspired by a queen’s sceptre, the perfume is aimed at ‘any woman with even the smallest mustard seed of power inside her who wants to bring it out,’ she revealed. ‘Someone daring and different – a man or a woman’.

Talking of the white floral jasmine scent mingled with berries, bergamot and liquid praline she said ‘it’s powerful, it’s strong, it’s sexy, it’s different – with a touch of androgyny. I’m a triple Scorpio so it has to be very sexy.’

In fact, Perry has created a sexed-up bottle of Killer Queen especially for our October issue. Masterminded by Perry and customised it’s a one-of-a-kind world exclusive, and you could win it.
