As Series 2 of The Voice kicks off, it’s another chance for us to admire Jessie J’s pre-buzz cut hair (it was filmed just before she shaved off her signature dark locks for Comic Relief).

We love her rich espresso-toned bob with slick dark eye make-up, and high gloss pout to match. In fact, we love this look so much that we went straight to her hair and make-up team for an exclusive insight into how they achieved the look.

Make sure you check back here when the live shows start as we’ll have all the insider info on her make-up looks, plus if she decides to have some fun with her shaved hair we’ll have the lowdown on that too. Make sure you follow us on Twitter @ELLEUK and @ELLEBEAUTYTEAM to get the information first.

Make-up

Jessie’s Make-up Artist, Karin Darnell, wanted to create a soft and glowing look with a little bit of drama.

Using Guerlain Perfume de Lumiere Foundation, Karin created a glowing base under Crème de la Mer concealer along with face powder, also by Crème de la Mer. For dramatically defined eyes Eylure eyelashes layered up with Givenchy Phenomen Eyes Waterproof Mascara did the trick. A little eye pencil pushed into the lash roots defined the eye and removed any tell-tale signs of false lashes. She then used a black pencil inside the waterline and blended around the eyes to give the look a soft focus. Armani brow defining pencil shaped Jessie’s brows, but Karin didn’t want to make the eyebrows too bold - this pencil is super soft and buildable.

On Jessie’s cheeks Karin used a matte brown powder to contour before adding a pop of coral blusher by Estee Lauder blusher. Karin then finished the look with Bobbi Brown lipstick in beige no.2 - a light warm beige which she covered with gloss. On bare any bare skin on Jessie’s body, Karin buffed in Benefit Bathina to give skin a perfected glow.
Hair

Alisha Dobson, Jessie J’s hairstylist who’s responsible for the buzz cut, shares her tips on how to recreate the judge’s asymmetrical bob at home…

‘We used bumble and bumble 'deeep' conditioning treatment to keep Jessie's hair healthy and shiny.I then blow dried Jessie's hair with Phillip Kingsley 'Maximizer', using a round brush, (GHD ceramics brushes being my favourite!). To get the hair super smooth Alisha then went over the hair with straighteners for added shine and to control the hair. To finish I added some bumble and bumble classic to flatten any flyaways.’
