The split happened a couple of months ago(!!), a source tells E! Online. "There is definitely still love for each other there. They remain close and are on good terms." Good enough terms for a reunion some day? We can only dream.
Update, 5/24: Following rumors earlier this week that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were spotted all smiles and hand-holding, we were left hopeful, but you know, pics or it didn't happen. So yesterday was a big deal. The celebs were photographed together for the first time since they split. We have to say, it certainly doesn't look like there's much post-breakup awkwardness going on here.
If this isn't evidence that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are getting back together, we don't know what is. Who goes grocery shopping with an ex if things are not on the mend??
Update, 5/21: Guys! Guys! All hope is not lost! Emma Stone is apparently not a member of the Taylor Swift's "we are never ever ever getting back together" camp because she and Andrew Garfield were reportedly spotted holding hands, hanging out, and looking coupley earlier this week. Hooray!
More evidence also surfaced when Emma was caught greeting Andrew's parents rather warmly at her Aloha London premiere (nice of them to show for an ex's event).
As E! notes, this doesn't mean the two are officially back together—they could just be members of that rare, admirable species of human that can remain friendly with their ex and his or her parents—but it certainly looks promising!
Update, 4/22: The reported "break" that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were on has become a full breakup, Us Weekly reports. An insider told the outlet that Stone ended the relationship, moving back to L.A. "He'd been in a dark place for months, getting into his role [for Martin Scorsese's Silence]," a second source detailed. "He wasn't being the best partner." R.I.P., pretty, young Hollywood love.

Stone just wrapped production on Aloha and has been busy in Los Angeles, according to People. Garfield, meanwhile, is shooting Silence in Taiwan, and has "thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else," a source explained to the outlet. "Emma understands his work anxieties–it's why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year–but they're taking a break from seeing each other. They're both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage."

Notably, Garfield missed the Golden Globes and Oscars where Stone was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. But there is hope for these two.
