Amy : 'Joely, how do you feel about going to Milan for fashion week?'

Me: (almost choke on my Pret sandwhich) 'I'd absolutely love to!'

And here I am. One month after being asked to report all things beauty from one of the most iconic, fashionable cities in the world. Excited would be an understatement, and a little scared too - I've never been to Milan before and only know around three things in Italian (Buongiorno, grazie and I'm assuming pizza is still the same?), plus I've heard that Milan Fashion Week is a whole other kettle of impeccably dressed fish.

First stop packing:

Here are my beauty heroes that I wouldn't want to mingle with the fashionable elite without -

Decleor Hydra Floral Multi-Protection - this powerful little pot gives 24 hour moisture, a must when you've just got off a flight and have early morning call times.

Darphin Cleansing Michella Water - an all-in-one cleanser for face, eyes lips is essential for weekends away plus I'm drawn to anything miniature, they're just cuter.

Tom Ford Lipstick in Narcotic Rouge - a statement lippy that lasts as long as the hectic show days and packs a colour punch too.

Toni & Guy Cleanse Dry Shampoo - this handy-sized dry shampoo will keep my blow dry fresh for an extra day or two.

MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation - I spotted this foundation backstage at so many shows in London I just had to try it, and I definitely see what all the fuss is about - it's super hydrating and lasts all day too.

Selexir Peace Balm - for a little TLC after long days I'll smooth this ultra calming mini balm around any dry patches and under my eyes.

Bumble and Bumble ColorMinded Conditioner and Shampoo - I dyed my hair from blonde to brown just before flying to Milan - i'm hoping these will keep my colour looking fresh.

Comme des Garcon Amazing Green - when you smell good, you feel good - simples. And this fresh, green fragrance is sophisticated and different to any other scent i know.

MAC Penultimate Eyeliner in Rapid Black - great for creating feline shaped flicks, the end is so small you can get right up to the lash line.
