Okay, so we know Punk is fast becoming a beauty trend for next season and while the punky hair is all grungy textures and easy effortless up-dos, the make-up is a little harder. Case in point: the black, lacquered lip make-up artist Hannah Murray gave models at Moschino Cheap and Chic.
Hannah use a black MAC pencil, layered with a gel liner and then clear Lipglass to create this 'lip with attitude'.
I thought I would give it a try today for our Trial A Trend series. To hand I had a Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil and some Lanolips 101 Ointment. First, I outlined my lips with the pencil then filled it the shape. Then I dabbed the ointment over the top with my finger for the high-shine finish.
One colleague said I looked like someone from that 90s film The Craft (read: a witch), another didn't even notice what all the fuss was about. I was going to take my lip look out to Starbucks with me but then I had second thoughts.
I'm not keen on the toughness of the lip and felt the need to soften it with a faux bun. Having said that, take a red lipstick, layer on a little black eye pencil, blend, and you've got yourself a tough, deep, red shade that nods to the catwalk and isn't quite so... erm, witchy.
